South Pars Gas Field Development - Phases 20 and 21

Location: Assalluyeh, Persian Gulf / Iran
Client: Pars Oil and Gas Company
Partners: -
Scope of work: EPCC
Value: 4.5 Billion US
Man-hours: 120.000.000
Output:
Natural Gas: 50 million cubic meters per day
Stabilized Condensate: 80,000 barrels per day
LPG: 1 million tons per year
Ethane Gas: 1 million tons per year
Sulfur: 400 tons per day

The EPC contract for development of Phases 20 and 21 was signed in May 2009 between the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and OIEC.

Offshore Facilities

Offshore Platforms

  • One unmanned wellhead platform, for each phase of the project, equipped with the required production facilities
  • Two relief platforms, each connected by bridges to the associated wellhead platform

Sea Lines

  • Two 32” export sea lines (each with 4” piggy-back line) of 1000 mmscfd nominal capacity each will be installed to transport the raw offshore production from wellhead platforms to the onshore gas treatment plant

Onshore Facilities

  • Receiving facilities for HP separation of raw gas and condensate / water mixture
  • Condensate stabilization producing stabilized condensate for storage and export and light ends recycled in the HP gas system. One condensate flashing unit, normally not operated, is provided as a back-up of the stabilization facilities
  • Gas treatment facilities producing sales gas, gaseous Ethane and NGL consisting of:
    • H2S removal from gas / CO2 partial removal from gas
    • dehydration unit, using molecular sieves technology
    • Mercury guard
    • Ethane extraction unit, producing sales gas, gaseous Ethane and NGL
  • NGL fractionation facilities to produce sour liquid Butane and Propane
  • Gaseous Ethane cut treatment for CO2 removal and drying for further export
  • Propane and Butane treatment for Mercaptans removal and drying for further storage and export
  • Propane and Butane separate atmospheric storage tanks (double wall), refrigerated and with reinforced concrete external walls
  • Export gas compression to discharge the lean gas to pipeline pressure
  • MEG regeneration and injection unit
  • Sulfur recovery producing liquid Sulfur and solidification
  • Off-site utilities, as required for operation

Drilling Operations

The following activities are generally required for drilling and testing 22 wells, including 2 appraisal wells (11 wells on each platform):
• Providing two cantilevered jack-up drilling rigs
• Procurement of all material required for drilling activities and completion
• Providing all necessary drilling services; i.e. mud, cementing, directional services, logging, etc.
• Logistics such as drilling operation base, supply boat, helicopter, etc.
• Drilling engineering and management
